This Policy applies to every parcel, envelope, document, vehicle, container, and specialist shipment requested through Syrian Express. It forms part of the Terms & Conditions. A category, customs estimate, or accepted booking does not certify that an item is lawful, safe, correctly classified, or accepted by every carrier or authority.
1. Accurate declaration
- Declare every item completely and truthfully, including its contents, quantity, weight, value, condition, owner, intended recipient, purpose, and any special handling or legal requirement.
- Do not use vague descriptions, conceal items inside other goods, split a commercial quantity to avoid controls, or misstate value or purpose.
- Provide authentic invoices, permissions, prescriptions, certificates, export or import documents, and recipient information when required.
- Tell support before sending if an item is fragile, valuable, temperature-sensitive, perishable, battery-powered, liquid, magnetic, sharp, pressurized, regulated, or otherwise unusual.
2. Prohibited cargo
You must not use Syrian Express for any item whose possession, transport, export, transit, import, transfer, or delivery is unlawful, sanctioned, or restricted without all required authorization. Prohibited or conditionally prohibited items include:
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, drug-production materials, and unlawfully supplied or undeclared medicines.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, incendiaries, radioactive materials, poisons, dangerous chemicals, compressed gases, and other hazardous materials.
- Stolen, counterfeit, pirated, fraudulent, or illegally obtained goods, money, payment instruments, or documents.
- Human remains, live animals, trafficked wildlife, protected species, and goods derived from them where transport is prohibited or undocumented.
- Items connected to sanctions evasion, money laundering, terrorism, trafficking, fraud, tax or customs evasion, or other crime.
- Any item barred by German, EU, transit-country, Syrian, customs, export-control, aviation, postal, road, maritime, carrier, or destination rules.
3. Regulated and high-risk items
Identity documents, legal papers, cash or equivalents, precious goods, cultural property, electronics, batteries, medicine, medical devices, food, plants, seeds, alcohol, tobacco, cosmetics, chemicals, vehicle parts, and commercial quantities may require specific documents, packaging, licenses, declarations, or carrier approval. They are accepted only when lawful and expressly suitable for the actual route.
The customs catalogue in the app is a reference aid. Source amounts, categories, and measurement bases may be incomplete or change. The authoritative charge and admissibility decision rests with the applicable authorities and the confirmed shipment process.
4. Packaging and labels
- Use packaging suitable for repeated handling, consolidation, road and other transport, and expected weather and storage conditions.
- Protect fragile items, prevent movement and leakage, isolate sharp edges, and follow all carrier rules for batteries or regulated contents.
- Attach the Syrian Express barcode or reference exactly as instructed without covering required domestic-postage labels.
- Do not use packaging that falsely suggests another sender, carrier, content, certification, or authorization.
You are responsible for damage or cost caused by inadequate packaging or labeling, except to the extent caused by us or where responsibility cannot legally be imposed on you.
5. Inspection and refusal
We, our logistics partners, carriers, customs authorities, and other competent authorities may weigh, measure, scan, open, inspect, photograph, or test a shipment where permitted. Depending on our current operational workflow and the requirements of the route or authorities, this may happen at the origin before consolidation, during transit where permitted, or first after arrival at the destination. We may request proof, repackage at your cost where agreed or necessary, refuse acceptance, suspend dispatch or delivery, or require collection or return.
Where an item is suspected to be illegal, dangerous, sanctioned, or materially misdescribed, we may isolate it and contact the relevant carrier or authority. We may surrender, return, or dispose of it where required by law or reasonably necessary for safety. Payment of a quote does not require us to transport prohibited cargo.
6. Customs, sanctions, and charges
The sender is responsible for export information and lawful origin; the recipient is responsible for import information and collection requirements; both must cooperate with inspections and lawful requests. You must comply with sanctions and export controls and must not use another person, route, description, or payment to evade them.
Customs and authorities may reclassify, value, delay, reject, seize, confiscate, or destroy cargo. If an inspection or authority decision identifies incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading information, an undeclared item, or a difference in contents, quantity, weight, value, classification, or required documents, we may, to the extent permitted by applicable law, pass on the resulting additional duties, taxes, inspection, handling, storage, administrative, return, disposal, or other reasonable and documented shipment costs. Where permitted by applicable law, including any applicable lien or right of retention, we may hold the affected parcel, envelope, shipment, or related handover and suspend dispatch or delivery until the surcharge has been received in full or the issue is otherwise resolved, whether the discrepancy is found at origin, in transit, or at the destination. Mandatory customer rights remain unaffected.
7. Handover, collection, and evidence
Keep proof of domestic shipment to the German origin centre and do not send cargo until the app says the booking is ready. The recipient must use the correct station, identification, and collection details. Report visible damage, missing items, or an incorrect handover immediately where possible, retain the packaging, and contact support without undue delay.
8. Reporting and consequences
Do not proceed if an item, sender, recipient, document, payment, or instruction appears suspicious. Contact support and, for immediate danger or suspected crime, contact the competent emergency service or authority. Violations may result in refusal, additional costs, account restriction, evidence preservation, and disclosure to authorities where permitted or required.
